Tell Us About Your Home Business |
 |
Some of you who operate a home business have submitted profiles of your business to me. That process essentially involved answering a set list of questions and sending me your responses by email. For those profiles I approved, the home business profile was placed on the Home Business Profiles page.
Of course, technology has improved since then. If you've never submitted your home business profile the old way, you still can. However, now there's an even better way to do it, by way of a new feature on About.com called "Show and Tell".
The Show and Tell feature allows you to tell your story, include a link to your home business site or blog and even upload a photo or two - maybe of yourself, your logo, or whatever is appropriate for your story.
Even if you've already submitted your home business profile the old-fashioned way, you're still welcome to tell your story with Show and Tell. And if you haven't submitted info on your home business yet, now you have an even better way to do it.
Just go to the Tell Us About Your Home Business page and click the Submit a Home Business Entry link to complete the form.
All submissions are moderated by me and are subject to approval. All submissions must be in English. Otherwise, all you need to do is follow the instructions on the form.
To see the entries that have already been approved, click the See Published Submissions button near the upper right of the form page. I submitted an entry for my own home business to get the ball rolling so you'll get an idea of what your entry will look like once it's approved.
It's a great way to get your home business in front of other people, and also an opportunity for you to tell us how you did it and offer advice to others who are thinking about starting a business.

Time to be a Freelancer? |
 |
Freelancing is one way to work from home and start earning money fast without getting hung up in a lot of preparation and planning, like you would if you were going to start a full-blown home business.
As a freelancer, you offer services in which you're already skilled. Examples include:
Freelance writers
Freelance web designers
Freelanace graphic artists
Freelance programmers
And more.
One of the advantages of freelance work is that there are a number of freelance network sites out there that match up employers with freelancers. The one I'm most experienced with is Guru.com, and over the years it has provided several jobs for me.

Leaving your job? Don't forget your 401(k) |
|
Question: I'm in my 30's and have a 401(k) from a previous job, 75% of which is invested in a variety of stock portfolios. Although my stock holdings have recovered a bit recently, I'm still down about ,000 from my peak balance. I'm planning to roll over this old 401(k) into either the 401(k) at my new job or into an IRA account, but I'm wondering whether I should do the rollover now while stocks are still cheap or wait until the market has recovered and then do it. What do think? --Todd Gerecke, Lynden, Washington

| THE KNOWLEDGE NUT |
 |
| Did you know that........ no matter how ticklish you may be, you can't tickle yourself....................
This is because your brain keeps your senses focused on what's happening in the world; important signals aren't drowned out in the endless buzz of sensations caused by your actions. For instance, we are unaware of the feel of a chair and the texture of our socks, yet we immediately notice a tap on our shoulder. |
